Antwerpen Trip
At the end of February, the ESV went to Antwerp for a wonderful trip: a long weekend full of fun awaited all 40 of us. This soon became apparent when we all left on the train, and the atmosphere quickly established itself.
After a relatively short but certainly powerful train journey, we arrived at one of the most beautiful stations in Europe. From here we took a short walk to our hostel, which was certainly not the least. We were right in the center, close to the Grote Markt. Exactly where we wanted to be: in the middle of all the fun.
The weekend in Antwerp started well with a wonderful tour through the city in the form of a “beer walk”, organized by our one and only Wouter Peeters. This allowed us to learn a lot about Antwerp's history, culture and tapping habits. In the evening a delicious dinner was arranged, so that we could all start the evening strong and filled. It is not without reason that the largest and most stocked cafes and bars were located (next to us) in the center.
The next morning (almost) everyone was fit and happy for our next cultural outing to the Aan de Stroom museum. A beautiful museum, filled with culture and history, with a new story about Antwerp on every floor (10!). After this, especially for people who were less able to walk around quietly, the committee organized a Crazy 70 (but they don't like fishing), in which everyone could go through the city in groups to complete as many assignments as possible as quickly as possible. This madhouse was much appreciated and certainly raised the atmosphere to an even higher level, with the winners themselves winning two bottles of wine!
That evening we played another Antwerp pub quiz in the hostel, where not the fastest but smartest participants were able to earn a glass of wine. This evening was also closed in the city, where most people were able to enjoy themselves until the late hours.
On the last day, everyone was allowed to make their own plans, and people went through the city, rested a bit or even went ax throwing. The return journey was a little quieter than the outward journey due to all the activities, but still pure fun until we arrived back in familiar Nijmegen.
